Date: 11th Jan 2007 Name: CALLEN [the Voice] Comments: Well just a few words [if they ever make the board]I'm outta here as its a sad day when censorship creeps into what are public forums albeit dt's own site..its still a public forum and in any free society free speech is the life blood! A public forum should in effect 'police' itself providing the watershed of protecting minors, the vulnerable and the elderly isnt breached..in this instance that didnt occur so censorship is an intrusion..Todd you've made an error and sadly my perception of you has changed..you have the down right cheek to openly criticise me for defending myself against abusive sexual orintated attacks on the board by a few morons yet you stood by with your censorship wand while that went on..but only acted when I responded to it and then make a point of pin-pointing me! how one-sided is that!! as for me having idle time.oh dear my friend..I'll have you know I'm a business man of degree standard and an ex music promoter toboot! This will be my last post because of your 'jackboot' philosophy..hopfully you have some degree of fairplay left and will reverse your censorship nitemare and print this post. Date: 06th Jan 2007 Name: CALLEN [the Voice] Comments: IAN I'm getting seriously worried about you and your 'T-Shirt' rant'...do you manufacture the bloody things? or sell them on the market for a living?? I need to inform you of a few things regarding me ie original rebel/rocker..way back yonder in the mists of rock folklore..Blues/rock was adopted by disaffected youth culture in the west as a soundtrack to their rebellion and alternitive livestyle...during those heady days I rebelled againest societies outdated victorian rules and related to the anger/energy of rock via Zepp-Doors-Stones-ac/dc-Van halen-Sabbath etc [yes seen them all live] like many of my generation I tuned in-turned on- and dropped out! Grew my hair long to express my rebellion [unlike today which is usually a fashion statement] sacrificing career friends convention in the process. One crucial part of my distaste of 'straight' society was uniformity! ie the need to 'belong' 'comform' 'submite' to a brand..to wear any form of 'uniform' [ie brand t-shirts-leather jacket etc] was a clear indication of that weakness for the need to belong or identify oneself with. I was a biker years ago but left because of their strict social rules and uniform. wearing a t-Shirt supporting a band is 'crass' to me..sorry..downright sheepish in fact but I'm certain you'll see it a different way huh? maybe if I was a spotty naive youth I might feel proud to wear your brand t-shirt but...some of us grow up matey! The important thing is that I dig your band and the music you play..that should be enough huh? I have supported DT in its various guises since '94 and can recall many a chav pub you played with only one or two rockers there yet I was one of the faithful [I think chris ryan acknowledged that for he kept giving me free tapes/cds]............................speaking honestly here..I think you guys should be worried.this is not the best time locally for rock cover bands and lets be honest here this here site simply isnt used! [the old site was] your lack of updating ie gig pics-down loadable mp3 tracks and the elusive video etc has become a stale joke. you may kid yourselves but this site is dead! have a loook at 'yourspace' and the many local pub bands making the effort to upload lots and the support they've got..are you lot so 'middleaged' and comfortable that your happy taking a back seat? you may moan oh life takes priority ie partners-kids-mortgage-job etc but if you dont get some inspiration I can see the end of DT which would be a shame. I'm only going to stick around a short while here cos I think you need a wake-up call from somebody and lets face it..the past posters are hardly gonna say anything are they..its obvious from their posts they appear braindead..wake up guys! Please remember that we all do this as a hobby - not for any financial gain. The fact that updates to the site might seem few and far between is because we don't spend our lives worrying about what the next update to the site is going to be - we add stuff whenever we've got something to say, or whenever I've got precious time spare to spend on thinking up new ideas or creating 'fresh' content. If we were chasing after a record deal or were dreaming that 'we can all quit our day jobs and do this for a living' then maybe we'd invest even more time and money than we already do. We're just doing this so everyone can have some fun. Life's serious enough - we all need a bit of escapism. Nuff said? - Todd.
